Attention homeowners with a new roof recently installed, have you noticed what almost looks like thick, black goo on your soffits facet? Well that actually could be tar from your new shingles caused from runoff rain. This black tar is difficult to clean as it does not clean from our traditional soft wash process. There are 2 ways we go about tackling this problem at Pressure Wash This, either with a more potent mix of SH (Usually a 5-6% mix instead of the standard of 2%) but this comes with a higher chance of damaging paint as a mix of SH higher then 2% could do that. The next step is a chemical called degreaser, where we dilute it to about a 2% mix & use a brush to scrub away at the tar. The only problem with this process is that degreaser can be inconsistent depending on how bad the stain is, giving you varied results. We recently cleaned a house that had this black tar on the soffit facets & as you can see from the pictures it looks a whole lot better but it is not 100% because of the reasons explained above. Please be aware if you have this type of stain on your soffit facets it may or may not come out 100% clean, but we will exhaust our options to give you the best looking result here at Pressure Wash This.
